In 2021, amidst the global pandemic, Michaud Cooley Erickson undertook a critical project at the Mayo Clinic to upgrade the bulk oxygen tank system. The existing primary and reserve oxygen tanks, along with the vaporizer, were not meeting the heightened patient care demands.

Understanding the urgency of the situation, we collaborated with renowned Medical Gas consultants to devise a robust solution. The design recommendations included repurposing the current primary tank as a backup and introducing a larger, more capable main tank complete with modern vaporizers. This solution not only rectified any compliance issues but also prepared the clinic for any future increases in demand.
The implementation required a new, larger location that could accommodate the upgraded system and included a security perimeter. We ensured that the site was meticulously planned and tested to support the weight of the new equipment and that it was free from any subterranean hazards or conflicts with existing infrastructure.
The project’s completion has significantly bolstered the Mayo Clinic’s ability to provide uninterrupted, high-quality patient care during a time when it was most needed. It stands as a testament to our commitment to healthcare support and operational excellence.
