MCE has designed a new, energy-efficient commercial hangar for Jackson Hole Airport that incorporates the latest in sustainable design. This hangar includes all necessary features for smooth airport operations and provides a dedicated space for Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This project is part of the airport’s ongoing initiative to prioritize environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

jackson hole, Wyoming
The new hangar replaces an older facility, using 30-35% less energy and emitting 30-35% less carbon than similar buildings. By implementing an optimized water heating system, MCE’s design eliminates the need for natural gas, significantly reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, MCE has designed flexible electrical systems capable of increasing capacity for charging electric aircraft without disrupting airport activities.
Furthermore, MCE designed the ILFDA (Ignitable Liquid Floor Drainage Assembly) system at Jackson Hole Airport. This system, one of the first of its kind in a commercial hangar, enhances fire safety by eliminating a flammable liquid pool fire from forming. The ILFDA system channels with a network of sensors to detect fuel spills quickly and flush the fuel to a safe location, ensuring prompt alerts and efficient suppression. This innovative design not only improves safety but also eliminates chemical foam additives and reduces the amount of water required to supress the fire, supporting the airport’s commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability.
