MCE completed a comprehensive facility assessment of the City of Chaska’s approximately 210,000-square-foot Community Center to support future campus master planning and capital improvement initiatives. The evaluation included multiple site visits and an extensive review of the facility’s mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, many of which dated back to the building’s original 1989 construction and subsequent expansions.
The assessment encompassed the center’s diverse program spaces, including fitness facilities, indoor swimming pools, ice arenas, childcare and early education areas, theater spaces, and community gathering environments. MCE documented existing infrastructure conditions, equipment age, remaining useful life, and overall operational performance to establish a baseline for future planning efforts. As part of the study, MCE evaluated major HVAC equipment, boiler and chilled water systems, domestic hot water infrastructure, electrical distribution systems, lighting controls, emergency power systems, and life-safety components. The team identified aging equipment, deferred maintenance concerns, code compliance issues, and opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reliability, and occupant comfort.
The resulting report provided prioritized recommendations for repairs, replacements, and system upgrades, creating a strategic roadmap to guide future investments and support the long-term operation, modernization, and sustainability of this important community asset.
