Xcel Energy Programs
As member of the Fortune 500 list, Land O’Lakes is a member-owned agricultural cooperative based in Arden Hills, Minnesota; focusing on the dairy industry. Michaud Cooley Erickson (MCE) provided full MEPF engineering services for their new headquarters building that would be connected to their existing headquarters. With a LEED Platinum certification, the MEP systems are designed to be 45 percent more energy efficient that ASHRAE performance standards.
MCE modeled the entire building in IES-VE software to assist in choosing energy efficient HVAC systems and to help the architects make design decisions about glazing and orientation of the building. Some of the components used where a dedicated outside air system with energy recovery, dedicated outdoor air VAV boxes, condensing boilers, LED lighting systems, daylighting controls, solar panels installed on the roof, water saving plumping fixtures and a system for storm water collection to be used for irrigation.
Additionally, MCE participated in the Xcel Energy Assist Program to provide rebates to the owner. MCE worked with the architects and general contractor from Pre-Schematic design all the way through construction.
