The Adopt-A-Room vision was developed by parents of terminally ill children to create a friendly comfortable hospital environment for seriously ill children and their families.
Michaud Cooley Erickson provided MEP engineering for the patient room design. LED lighting is controlled by the patient in any color imaginable in the ceiling and at floor level under cabinetry. A full integration of technology, medical gases, plumbing and controls were designed in the head wall for use by medical staff and allowing the patient controls with an articulating monitor for the lighting and sound. Comfort and connectivity was planned for family members with a remote office desk area and comfortable lounging spaces within the patient room.
