MSP International Airport Voted America’s Best Restroom
Cintas’ America’s Best Restroom Contest, open to public voting, has named the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as the 2016 Hall of Fame recipient! The finalists were selected based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality, and unique design elements. According to the Airport Service Quality survey, “the restroom experience is the second most important factor for passenger satisfaction…” An airport restroom is a space that nearly every passenger utilizes while traveling. It is unique in that it serves a wide array of users, many of them carrying luggage, traveling with children or in a rush. The Metropolitan Airports Commission sought to create a positive guest experience through their Restroom Upgrade Program. Michaud Cooley Erickson was part of the team, responsible for designing the mechanical and electrical systems for these restrooms. These thoughtfully designed restrooms have state of the art details, engineered to enhance the user experience. This was accomplished with LED lighting, LCD informational displays, people counters to alert cleaning crews, thoughtful sink and hand drying layouts and a proper exhaust system to keep the restroom smelling fresh and pleasant. Iconic mosaic artwork, designed by local artists, is the first indication you are in one of the renovated restrooms. Upgrades will continue through 2025, impacting over 100 sets of restrooms.
Congratulations to the Metropolitan Airports Commission!
