Since 1986, MCE has provided continuous engineering services on a myriad of projects with this Twin Cities based insurance firm. As expansion has become necessary, we have provided St. Paul Companies with the mechanical, electrical, lighting, fire protection and commissioning services essential for ensuring building systems function smoothly. In addition to design services, MCE has completed various studies, remodels and analysis reports for the company.

Outdated systems were removed from the existing South facility and our engineers designed a complete renovation for 500,000 square feet. Included in the building upgrades were a new fitness center, a corporate research library, a specially lit art gallery and a video taping facility. Our team designed engineering for the Jackson Room, a high profile presentation gathering space, where large meetings, speeches and lectures take place. Furthermore, the facility holds a technical training center, which houses a completely functional display of various sprinkler head types and their spray patterns. Numerous other functioning fire-extinguishing exhibits are also on display in the training facility.

More recently, we collaborated with St. Paul Companies in their plan to design and construct a new corporate headquarters in downtown St. Paul. For this 500,000 square foot facility, we designed multiple engineering systems for numerous office spaces, an employee dining area and cafeteria adjoined by an outdoor plaza and executive office spaces, including a boardroom.

Office spaces designed included low-glare lighting to ease optical stress and a raised floor to facilitate future employee relocation. Electrical distribution and voice data systems are located within the raised floor area and allow easy access, regardless of how workspaces are rearranged. MCE also designed engineering solutions for the building’s daycare facility and underground parking ramp.
