| International Market Square, Minneapolis
International Market Square is an adaptive reconstruction of the original Munsingwear manufacturing facility constructed during the period of 1890 to 1915, and covered an entire square block. The five buildings now provide more than 400,000 square feet of designer showrooms, offices for design professionals and related services forming a central resource center for architects, designers and retail home furnishing buyers in the upper Midwest and central Canada. Four of the buildings, originally grouped around a service court, were connected by a glass-roof-enclosed atrium, which houses a restaurant and other public spaces. The atrium, enhanced by lighting and audio-visual systems, is now fully air-conditioned and has a state-of-the-art smoke evacuation system. |
