| Abbott Northwestern (ANW) Hospital
Over the past 25 years, MCE has participated in more than 450 projects for the nationally acclaimed Abbott Northwestern (ANW) Hospital in Minneapolis. Weve engineered mechanical, electrical and special systems for virtually every major unit of ANW: the Sister Kenny Institute; Wasie Center; Virginia Piper Cancer Institute; Minimally Invasive Care Center; Senior Clinic; Neuro Institute; Peri-Natal Clinic; and Ambulatory Services Facilities. In the early 1990s, we designed a unique solution for ANW that received the highest national award for engineering innovation. In order to allow 19 operating rooms to simultaneously perform laser surgery, our engineers designed a patented centralized laser smoke evacuation system (CVAC). Laser smoke and debris are collected and transported to a central mechanical room, where air is sorted from debris by a centrifugal separator. The system eliminates 98 percent of all airborne particles caused by laser procedures and allows multiple procedures to be performed at the same time. No floor space is required, due to flexible tubing that properly distributes the laser by-products. |
