Boston Scientific

Boston Scientific’s Maple Grove Campus is a high-tech medical research and manufacturing campus. Michaud Cooley Erickson designed the MEP and special systems for Buildings II, III and the expansion of III. These buildings have strict temperature and humidity tolerances that must be maintained at all times to meet Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for research/development and manufacturing of interventional medical manufacturing devices.

Building II is a manufacturing facility of approximately 300,000 square feet. This building features clean room production spaces, general production areas, lab space, technical support space, warehouse, and a corporate cafeteria that serves up to 1,000 people. This building also contains an interstitial space that allows for mechanical and electrical work to take place without shutting down key production areas.

Building III is a 150,000 square foot research and development facility, which includes 50,000 square feet of R&D lab space, a 10,000 square foot meeting space including a 250-person presentation room, interstitial space and open office areas. An expansion to this facility was completed in January of 2008, bringing the total building area to approximately 260,000 square feet.   This building is LEED Silver certified.
