United Hospital

Michaud Cooley Erickson (MCE) has been working with United Hospital in St. Paul, MN for over sixteen years. MCE has done multiple remodel projects to update the hospital. These included three OR’s, four CV Labs, and two EP’s, recovery and support spaces, client space and administration. In addition to remodel projects, MCE also worked on design for the 44,700 square foot heart hospital addition.

MCE is currently working on the United Hospital Emergency Room Expansion & Children’s Hospital Expansion Project. This project has grown from a single story emergency room expansion for United Hospital, into a six (6) story 190,000 square foot tower addition to be used by both United and Children’s Hospitals. The first level of the tower includes United & Children’s Emergency Department, entrance and lobby.  The third floor will contain a surgery suite for Children’s Hospital including pre and post operative care areas. The fourth floor will include patient rooms for Children’s Hospital as well as a central sterilization facility. Other areas of the tower will be shell space for future expansion of both United and Children’s Hospitals.   In total, the Emergency Department expansion will house 27 examination rooms, 6 psychiatric rooms, 12 observation rooms, a decontamination area, in-department CT capabilities, and patient care/family areas designed with privacy in mind.
