Overlooking the Mississippi River on West River Road, Coloplast’s new North American headquarters sits atop a previously existing brownfield which now heralds a revitalization of Minneapolis’ North Side and the development of a medical-technology corridor.  The project included the renovation of an existing manufacturing facility and addition of two new structures to house sales and marketing, and research and product development.  MCE was able to engineer an efficient operating facility for Coloplast which included the project being LEED Silver certified by obtaining lighting control systems including day lighting, underfloor air distribution (UFAD) system providing individual occupant airflow control, efficient energy management systems that are 19% better than the Minnesota Energy code requirements, and storm water collection and treatment, all within a limited budget. MCE also participated in the Xcel Energy Design Assist Program which resulted in a rebate to the Owner of approximately $90,000.
