LEED/Sustainability

Michaud Cooley Erickson (MCE) continues to lead the industry by providing our clients with sustainable solutions and design for environmentally sensitive building systems design. Mechanical and electrical systems play key roles in the design of sustainable or “Green” buildings. To Michaud Cooley Erickson, “healthy” building design is of the utmost importance for a safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly building. Significant areas of consideration in building design for a sustainable building are indoor air quality, energy conservation, and energy efficiency. These keys and strategies have been paramount at MCE throughout our history.

Michaud Cooley Erickson has been a member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) since its inception.  We currently have 50 LEED Accredited Professionals on staff and a number of LEED Certified projects in design or recently completed.

MCE has also been active in the Xcel Energy Design Assistance Program (formerly known as the Energy Assets Program) since its inception. In fact, according to Xcel Energy, MCE has provided the mechanical and electrical engineering for more Energy Design Assistance (EDA) projects than any other firm. Xcel Energy created this program to provide building owners with financial assistance to offset the additional cost of sustainable designs and to better inform building owners of the financial rewards of energy efficiency. The results for our clients have included increased energy rebates from utility companies including Xcel Energy, long term energy savings, reduced downtime and maintenance costs, increased occupant comfort and productivity and the improved property values associated with better, more efficient buildings.
