A Staff Designer / Engineer role is an intermediate role with a basic foundation of design for Technology Systems. These systems include telecommunications and networks, audio and visual, security and video surveillance, fire alarm and mass notification, and others.

This person should be able to take on independent tasks for design up to full design of small projects to be reviewed by others. This person takes direction for most tasks and works closely with the Project Manager and other design staff members.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Maintain and master a knowledge of Technology Systems design, CAD, and/or Revit applications
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the construction process
  • Assist in the development of Schematic Design information, such as equipment selections, room sizes, space requirements, and assist in writing a scope narrative
  • Research equipment, assist in making selections, and complete equipment schedules
  • Research design options and document findings for the project team
  • Incorporate design concepts from Schematic Design into Design Development
  • Work to produce Construction Documents
  • Document existing conditions
  • Layout portions of the Technology Systems for the project
  • Provide drafting and documentation for projects, including implementing sketches and design concepts from others
